Quietube

Here’s an example of a great resource I found in my Personal Learning Network today. One of my colleagues at another university posted this on Twitter, and it’s awesome! It’s called Quietube, and you simply drag the button up into your bookmarks toolbar (see the picture below for where I put it in Firefox–right underneath the place where you type in URLs. It may look differently in your browsers). Then whenever you want to show a Youtube video or something else to your students, you simply click the button, and it will play the video WITHOUT ALL THE DISTRACTIONS! Yep, no advertisements, no links to inappropriate content, nothing except just the video and a white background.

Beautiful! This will be a great thing to bring up again when we talk about Internet Safety soon.

I think this is a really cool technology. It would be great to share some video clips without all of the advertisements found on youtube or other websites.
