Each week, one of you will present a short message on how we can be better Gospel teachers, learners, or technology users. Even though you will each present on a different week, the assignment will be due at the same time for everybody, and then we will take turns sharing our presentations throughout the semester. To complete the assignment, review the topic of teaching, learning, or technology in the scriptures or the words of modern prophets, and then create a presentation of no more than 3 slides highlighting the most important ideas. This is an opportunity to practice effective presentation principles! This means don’t just read the text of your slides to us, try to use images (with permission and give credit), and try to make it engaging. I’m still working on that too. You can search on the Web for PowerPoint tips, and I saved a few to our Diigo group.
Note for face-to-face students: You must use Google presentations for this assignment. This is much quicker than trying to load your Powerpoint on the podium computer from a key drive. Plus, you will get to learn Google presentations, which is very easy to learn and functions just like Powerpoint.
Click on this link below to go to a Google Spreadsheet where you can put your name, when you want to present (remember, we’re a Monday class) and your topic (to make sure we don’t get duplicates). After making your Google Presentation, put your link in this spreadsheet to “turn it in.”
Note to online students: You must use Screencast-o-matic, Voicethread, or Slideshare, or some other way to communicate your slides with audio/video narration in our Canvas site. To create your presentation in Screencast-o-matic, do the following:
1. Create a free account at http://www.screencast-o-matic.com/
2. Create a 1-3 slide PowerPoint sharing a thought or quote about a Gospel perspective on teaching or technology
3. Go back to screencast-o-matic and watch the tutorial they have there. It should clarify how to use the tool, but let me know if you are confused.
4. Click the start recording button. You might need to enable a plugin and restart your browser.
5. Click back to PowerPoint and resize the recording area to be over your slides (I leave PowerPoint in edit mode for this).
6. Click record and start narrating as you move through your slides!
7. Upload to Screencast-o-matic or Youtube. Then in our Canvas site under the module for this assignment, post a reply to my discussion starter and post the EMBED code (available in Youtube under the “share” button). When it is your turn for a devotional, we’ll just take your embed code and use it at the beginning of the module. This will be how you “turn it in.”

Make sure it is a .jpg. You can convert a picture with a different file extension for free by using Zamzar.com.
