For your assignment demonstrate that you can use both synchronous and asynchronous video communication (including video commenting) tools effectively.
- Synchronous video tools: Communicate with a peer in the class using Skype, Google Video Chat, Oovoo, or some other synchronous video tool. Take a screen shot while you are using the tool and post it to your blog (remember the directions for the PLN assignment on how to take screen shots).
- Asynchronous video tools: Send an asynchronous video message to a peer (using Tokbox or Facebook messaging). Take a screen shot while you are using the tool and post it to your blog.
- Video commenting: Create a Voice Thread (if you are not part of the online class) on a short instructional topic (4-5 slides), upload and share it with at least one other person, and have both of you comment on every slide. Alternatively, upload a video to Viddler (pretending it’s something a student has submitted for homework) and post several comments giving feedback to the imagined student at various points of the video.
- Post a reflection on your blog explaining what you learned about these video tools and which you think would be most useful in your own classroom and for what activities.
